Foundry

FoundryThis is a group of chemicals which are used directly or after processing in foundries. They may be used as binders for sand (Furan Resins) or as catalysts in the binding process (such as PTSA or TEA).
The most commonly sold chemicals in this category are :
Furfuryl Alcohol (FA)
Specifications
This Chemical is mainly sourced out of China. It is produced by Hydrogenation of Furfuraldehyde, a product of hydrolysis of agricultural waste like corncobs or rice husk or bagasse. It is the main ingredient of Furan Resins.

Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL)
Specifications
It is a hygroscopic colorless oily liquid with a weak characteristic odor and is soluble in water. GBL is a common solvent and reagent in chemistry and is used as a flavouring agent, stain remover, superglue remover, paint stripper, and as a solvent in some wet aluminium electrolytic capacitors. It is a regulated product in most countries as it can be used as a recreational drug with effects similar to alcohol use. We source GBL out of China.
